The ISNV Symposium and Conference on HIV in the Nervous System will be held at the Capital Hilton located on 16th Street and K Street, which puts it only two blocks north of the White House. Because the meeting venue is located in the heart of the nation's capital, there are numerous transportation options available for arrival and departure, as well as a wide range of major attractions and restaurants.

Getting to Washington, D.C.

Arriving by air

As a major city and the nation's capital, Washington, D.C. is served by most airlines. For meeting participants who will be arriving by air, three major airports serve Washington, D.C.: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI).

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is approximately 5 mi (8 km) from the Capital Hilton. DCA serves numerous domestic air carriers including AirTran, Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and U.S. Airways. Public and for-hire transportation to and from the airport is readily available. A taxi from DCA to the hotel will cost approximately $20 USD. Super Shuttle service will typically cost $14 USD.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is approximately 25 mi (40 km) from the Capital Hilton. It is a major arrival point for flights from around the world. Public and for-hire transportation to and from the airport is readily available. A taxi from IAD to the hotel will cost approximately $55 USD. Super Shuttle service will typically cost $29 USD.

Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) is approximately 30 mi (48 km) from the Capital Hilton. It is served by domestic and international air carriers. Public and for-hire transportation to and from the airport is readily available. A taxi from BWI to the hotel will cost approximately $85 USD. Super Shuttle service will typically cost $40 USD.

Special note for international travelers: Daylight saving time (DST) ends in the US on Sunday, November 3rd. In contrast, DST ends in several major countries (e.g. UK, France, Spain, Italy) on Sunday, October 27th.

Arriving by train

Meeting participants traveling by Amtrak train will arrive at Union Station, where transportation to all points in Washington, D.C. is readily available. The hotel is approximately 1.9 mi (3.1 km) from Union Station. A taxi from Union Station to the hotel will cost approximately $11 USD.

Rail and bus transportation in Washington, D.C. is provided by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro). The hotel is in close proximity to three different Metro Stations within the Metrorail system: Farragut North (Red Line), Farragut West (Blue & Orange Lines), and McPherson Square (Blue & Orange Lines).
