Announcing the availability of a postdoctoral position at the UCSF

A postdoctoral position has opened in the laboratory of Dr. Lynn Pulliam at the University of California, San Francisco in San Francisco, CA, USA. A postdoctoral scholar (PDS) is expected to work closely with Dr. Pulliam and other senior scientists in the lab to achieve the overall research goals of the laboratory. The PDS will be able to work independently on a daily basis. This will include the planning and performance of experiments, and the accurate recording and analysis of data. This is an HIV neurovirology/immunology laboratory with a strong emphasis on monocyte/macrophage immunology and exosomes. Techniques will include immunostaining of brain, protein extraction and purification, RNA and miRNA arrays, monocyte and exosome isolation, endothelial and neural cell cultures, western blotting, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, and related methods.

Essential functions for this position include:

  • Design experimental protocols and perform experiments
  • Analyze and summarize data
  • Work with supervisor and her associates to review research progress and plan direction of work
  • Prepare written summaries of research for presentation and publication, with assistance from Dr. Pulliam or other senior members of her research group
  • Manuscript preparation for submission to journals
  • Present talks at national and international meetings
  • Database searches
  • Computer skills, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong oral and written skills

Applicants for this position are expected to have a Ph.D. from an accredited university in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field, as well as several years experience in laboratory bench research.
